Another Shimano Super Stella

Whether throwing micro Squidgies at oyster rack bream, jigging giant kingfish and samson fish, or hurling foot-long poppers at cruiser-weight giant trevally, there is a reel in Shimano’s superlative Stella range of threadlines that will do the job.

For this season, an 8000 size reel has been added to the existing lineup, and it’s of a size perfect for use with 24 kilo braided lines and beyond, being able to fish over 20 kilos of drag!

The 8000FA holds 250 metres of six kilo line and has a brisk 5:1 gear ratio, making it ideal for long poppering sessions on GTs and queenfish in the tropical north, jigging mid-range kings in cooler waters, floating baits down a berley trail for snapper, even yo-yoing Squidgies along estuary breakwalls on a runout tide for council shovel flathead — then when that mega jewfish climbs on by mistake, you’ve got the reel to handle it with ease.

Like its larger and smaller brothers, the 8000FA features Super Slow Oscillation for better line lay, a Titanium-lipped aluminium spool, Floating Shaft, no fewer than 15 A-RB (anti-rust) bearings and one roller bearing, Super Stopper II, a Titanium Power Roller, and Dyna Balance, while a waterproof multi-washer drag system means the 8000FA can be used in the harshest of environments and continue to perform beautifully.
