Environets On The Improve

Environets are the best thing to happen to catch-and-release fishing since flattened barbs and bag limits, yet that’s not to say that the basic design can’t be improved upon. To briefly re-visit Environets’ advantages, they don’t remove the important slime coating from fish, and its knotless design means no damaged eyes or split fins — as can happen with traditional knotted mesh nets and those cheap Environet rip-offs that have appeared on the market recently.

In response to requests from anglers competing in barra tournaments, the Environet mesh is now 50 per cent larger, making it easier to swish through the water when that trophy winner bobs up beside the boat.

What’s more, hooks don’t foul as easily in the new mesh design, making for faster releases.

The new ‘Barra’ size Environet even has a retractable sliding handle for easier storage in small boats. Big snapper, kingie and jewfish specialists who use the big Environet are going to appreciate this feature as well.
