Barra Madness is much more than “just a fishing trip”.

BARRA MADNESS NOW OPEN:

Now all anglers have the opportunity to be guided by Jason Wilhelm a recognised Barramundi expert who has been at the forefront of impoundment Barra techniques.

Operating from Lake Awoonga, the jewel on the Central Coast of Queensland, this is one place that you can catch barramundi both night and day 365 days a year.

Always one to be outward thinking Jason is continually challenging recognized theories and working on patterns; but most importantly catching barra's!

Jason has an easy going nature, a great sense of humour and a dedicated attitude to customer service. The clients needs are his number one priority.

With a strong background in saltwater barramundi and sportsfishing, his knowledge on the species is both highly regarded and respected, Jason is often found doing information nights for clubs, tackle stores and various outdoor shows.

Apart from fishing for Barramundi, a strong emphasis is placed on casting techniques, luring methods, how to fight barra, waterway etiquette, knots and rigs, strategies, strike methods, rod angles, fishing attitude, release methods, impoundment dynamics, weather effects and Barramundi habits.

Learning how to use your sounder, locate fish in deep and shallow water, as well as bait schools all forms part of the day.

Much like their saltwater cousins, impoundment barra fight hard and fast, with lightening turns of speed and impressive aerial displays. They are a fantastic fighting species and incorporate fast running spurts of power, head shaking and often clear the water a number of times before coming to the net.

There are many misconceptions amongst the fishing fraternity regarding these fish but make no mistake impoundment barra are an incredible challenge, fight like mad and will test your skills.

Are you up to the challenge?

What others say about your Guide Jason Wilhelm:

Kaj 'Bushy' Busch:
"Some things are just meant to be. Apple pie goes with cream, night follows day – and Jason Willhelm should be a barra guide.

This guy guided me to my first impoundment barra and taught me everything I know about impoundment barra. "

Ian ‘Barra' Miller:
"The most important aspect of Jason Wilhelm's character as a professional guide is that he is a genuinely talented angler – not just someone who likes fishing and wants to be on the water every day.

He could be successful on any species but he has chosen barra and Lake Awoonga to be his specialty and the massive amount of time he has amassed on the lake during all conditions and seasons means no other has an understanding of the place and the fish like Jason does! "

John Haenke:
"Without a doubt, Jason is one of the most consistent anglers that we have worked with: he has always produced the fish needed for a successful shoot, using innovative methods often refined by Jason."

Jack Erskine:
"As a result of my involvement in the Fishing Tackle Trade for some 50years I have the opputunity to visit many countries world wide & to fish with some of the Top Fishing guides.

I have also fished with many of Australia's top Guides, I have the greatest respect for Jason Wilhelm & his fishing abilities."
