STRADIC 5000FH THREADLINE
Hasn't the use of Squidgies on snapper taken off in a big way in the southern half of Australia ! All of a sudden anglers are heading to sea without any bait and berley, and catching quality reds on soft plastics, plus doing it on reefs that often appear barren of quality fish.
‘Finesse' may seem a strange term to be using in conjunction with the rough and tumble world of reddie fishing, but braid filled reels, fluorocarbon leaders, and responsive rods like the gutsy TCurve Impoundment Spin bring a whole new world of sportfishing opportunities to light.
And an ideal reel for this sort of fishing is the new Shimano Stradic 5000FH.
The Stradic holds 195 metres of six kilo mono (and obviously a lot more braid) and features four A-RB bearings and one roller bearing, Dyna-Balance, Aero Wrap, Floating Shaft, Super Stopper II and a Power Roller bail roller to alleviate any line friction at a key point.
The multi-washer drag is waterproof and a maintenance port permits light lubrication of the drive train.
Of course, the 5000FH can be used for heavyweight estuary fishing as well, and with a 5.7:1 gear ratio it's also a fun reel to use for other pursuits such as throwing metal slugs at school tuna.
A spare spool rounds out what is a very attractive and versatile threadline package.
