REX "MY LIFE"

On August the 1st, Rex Hunt launched his autobiography.

Rex "my Life" is an interesting story of one of Australia's best-loved and most outspoken fishing personalities.

Well written with that distinctive "Rexisium" creeping in now and then, I found it a fascinating and at times quite compelling read.

Fishing, football and Rex Hunt all sit comfortably with each other. If nothing else Rex is passionate about both.

Rex Hunt was born in Melbourne's bay-side area with two great passions in life - fishing and football. Rex has been doing both of his favourite activities from a very young age.

Fished from the time he could dangle a line over Mordialloc pier and kicking a football in the street with his mates until snapped up by AFL club Richmond.

In a previous life Rex was a Victorian Policeman starting as a Cadet and reached Sergeant level. In a 60 minutes interview recently Rex lamented on his Police Service career, commenting that it was a really awful job" booking mate's" and telling parents about their little kid found in the pool.

His ability at his other two activities however rose to prominence when he started his senior football career with the Tigers. Rex also played for Geelong and St Kilda in the VFL/AFL.

Although after a couple of false starts and at times, with the arse out of his trousers, Rex's fishing business finally prospered thanks mainly to his enthusiastic personality and dogged determination.

In 1980 Rex exploded into television with 26 episodes of 'Angling Action' on the 0 (now 10) network. Fishing Television had a new benchmark. Then he went into radio in 1982 on 3DB with Rex Hunt's Fishing World. Even today many years later it is still on air for two hours on Friday nights from 6-8pm.

Rex founded, with a few other like-minded people, The Rex Hunt FutureFish Foundation. It is an independent, non-profit charitable organization dedicated to ensure that all Australians can enjoy the wonderful benefits of recreational fishing now and in future generations.

FutureFish has achieved much since its inception and continues to enhance recreational fishing.

He is married to his life-long sweetheart Lynne and has two grown-up children, Matthew and Rachel.

Rex is packed with anecdotes and insights into the worlds of AFL, radio and television and the characters Rex has come across in his extraordinary life.

REX "my Life" strikes me as an open, frank, endearing, extraordinary and inspiring story. He holds nothing back from his public. Well worth the $30.00 price tag.
