Release:

Background:
Due to concerns regarding the sustainability of Queenland tailor stocks, new
legislative measures have been introduced for both commercial and recreational
fishers.
The new management provisions will enhance the sustainability of tailor
fish stocks. These provisions are based on scientific and biological advice
on the needs for this fishery.
The new legislation has been introduced to ensure that future generations

a market choice for the consumer.

daily bag limit).

stay on the Island of 72 hours or more. These bag limits apply to any
person, including children, who catch fish.
The 30cm size limit remains.

of 120 tonnes.
