Dave Welfare :
With almost 40 Top Ten finishes in various salt and freshwater tournaments over the past three years, Dave could be called a tournament addict - and sitting well up the ladder in the highest money earners list keeps the powers that be at home happy to let him keep fishing! Taking home the NBC Grand Final winners trophy (and a new car) in 2006 rates a big highlight. Crowned ABT Victorian Angler Of The Year 2006 also shows the versatility of this NSW Angler. As a member of the Millerods Tournament Team, Dave is well equipped with some of the best dedicated Bream fishing rods in the country, and the support of tackle giant Pure Fishing keeps the right lures from the Berkley stable on hand at all time. Dave pilots one of the fastest boats on the tournament circuit and is proud to be part of Team Wood Stock.
Al ‘Buz’ Loftus :
Buz grew up in the inner-city suburb of Redfern and started fishing at the age of 11 when he, his younger brother and mates would walk down to Circular Quay and fish for leatherjackets. Buz still has the 4"Alvey that he bought for 4 dollars back then and remembers his mum not being too impressed with the dried up fish they used to bring home. Buz has a love for competitive sports and played every sport available to him with many highlights. Competition fishing brings together all the elements he loves, mother nature, hunting, equipment & boats (toys) and camaraderie. Buz has achieved 8 top ten placings and 4 Grand Finals in the last three years and winning the 2006 NBC Grand Final and a Toyota Yaris was the highlight so far. With new sponsor Woodstock Bourbon & Cola on board Buz is confident of another title in 2007.
